Song of the Month:
Away in a Manger
Played on piano by: Deborah Martin!
nelin34.gif - 9.0 K
Bible Verses:
Luke 2:1-18
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Devotion:
As it is the month of December, I want to talk about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It seems in the world we live in the true meaning of Christmas is so often replaced by the lights, presents and Santa. It can be hard as a Christian to keep our focus on the real meaning of Christmas. God cared for us so much that he was willing to send his only Son to be born and to later die for us. Without Jesus being born so long ago in Bethlehem, we would not have forgiveness of sins! Let us not forget the importance and the real meaning of Christmas.
God's Blessings,
Deborah Allyn Martin

Freedom Reigns

This Month's Topic: Do You Need Freedom?
Bible Verses
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed
John 8:36
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (freedom).
2 Corinthians 3:17
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Galatians 5:13
And I will walk at liberty (freedom): for I seek thy precepts.
Psalm 119:45

Devotion:
Are you in bondage? Do you need freedom? Jesus is calling us to freedom in Him. We all have chains that are binding us. Whether it is the books we read, music we listen to, the friends we hang out with. We all have things we need to be free from. We may think that we have freedom, but we really don't. True freedom comes from Jesus and his blood. The world can't give us freedom, we can't make our own freedom. JESUS is the ONLY one that give us freedom. Please come to Him and surrender your life, He is calling out to you to be free. True & Real freedom happens at the cross! You will not be content in your life until you have surrendered your entire life to God. Only then, when you have fully surrendered your life will you experience true freedom!
Standing on Jesus the ROCK,
Deborah Allyn Martin

G.I.R.L Newsletter Issue #12

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps. 1 Peter 2:21
Horizontal Bar
Song of the Month:
Draw Me Close to You Michael W. Smith

Bible Verses:
Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

Devotion:
This month I would like to talk a little bit about CHANGE in our lives. Change is something that happens to us all, whether or not it is us getting older, or changes in our families and friends. Change is just a part of lives. Sometimes when things change we can wish that they hadn't. There is nothing we can do to stop change from happening. When change comes into our lives that we may not want to happen, God can use it to work something good in our lives. He is helping us everyday and making us into something more like Him. Last month I talked about Trials, Tests and Frustrations. I guess that change could possibly fall into that catorgory also. Let's talk about some different kinds of change. In our own lives we can be changing. We get older and age, we go from kids to teenagers to adults. Change is happening all around us. The seasons change from winter to spring to summer to fall. Change is simply a part of life. Sometimes we do not like it when things change. Friendships may change, thing in our families, things in our world. Even through all this, Jesus is there with us, helping us, guiding us and leading us. Remember, Jesus is one who never changes, he stays the same. When you get discouraged about changes that are happening in your life, remember that God is always with us and will help us through whatever we are facing. Is there some change that God is trying to bring about in your life? Most importantly are you letting Him? He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
God Bless You,
Deborah Allyn Martin

G.I.R.L Newsletter Issue #11

Song of the month:
A Beautiful worship song... "Lord I'm amazed by you"
WANTED:
Have you written any Christian poems, or devotionals? If so, email them to me and who knows, maybe I will end up using one in a newsletter sometime!!
This Month's topic: "Trials, Tests and Frustration"

Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.”
Bible Verses:
He trusted on the LORD [that] he would deliver him:
let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. Psalm 22:8
Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily:
be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
Psalm 31:2
Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me. Psalm 40:13
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Psalm 50:15
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revalation 21:4
But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy [is] good, deliver thou me. Psalm 109:21
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. James 1:12
Devotion:
Have you ever felt frustrated with how life was going? Sometimes it's hard to trust God when tough times come into our lives. God promised he would be with us through trials, he didn't say we wouldn't have them, he said he'd be with us when they came our way. This brings a familiar verse to mind,Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
If this verse is true, which we know the word of God is, we have nothing to worry about! We can simply trust in the fact that God will make our frustrating cirumstances turn out for something good. By you sharing your testimony of a test and trial in your life and how God used it for your good you may be able to help someone else going through a similar circumstance. So let us remember God can turn our frustrating circumstances in life into something to be used for His glory!!

A good website where you can look up Bible verses, read devotionals and even read through the Bible in a year!
Bible Verses:

The God of my rock; in him will I trust : he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour ; thou savest me from violence. 2 Samuel 2:23

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:5

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Psalm 9:10
Devotion:
Trust. We all trust in someone. We place our trust in those we know. We place our trust in family, friends, neighbors, etc. The only one we can really trust is our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.. He is the only one that will never let us down. People will fail us & friends will leave but Jesus never will. Are you trustworthy? Can People trust you? I want to be someone who others can Trust. Sometimes people will let us down. When people let us down we can feel hurt inside and wonder why things happened the way they did. Remember, when people let us down & fail us Jesus is always there & will never fail you. Let us work on being someone that those around us can trust!

Devotion:
Plans are something all of us have. We plan what we should do in a day, where we should go and who we will see. Perhaps your plans go further than that, including college & what you want to do with your life. When we are making plans in our life, big or small, are we asking God for direction or are we simply moving forward without His leading? I truly believe that when we do not ask God for direction in our lives and just go forward with whatever it is WE want to do, it will not be Blessed. If God gives you the O.K. to do something, His Blessing will be on it.
This past week was our county fair and I showed some stuff there for 4-H.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had asked God to help me decide what I should enter (I entered 2 pics for photography and a flower for indoor gardening). Guess What? I got 2 Blues (1st place) and a red (2nd place)!
God can lead us in anything, big or small, when we come to Him with it all.
Give all of your plans to Him, and He will direct you.

Bible Verses:
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 29:11
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Psalm 34:14
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Romans 14:19
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God
Matthew 5:9
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Ephesians 4:26

Devotion:
I would like to talk a little bit to you about Peace. Our world right now is crying out for peace. Let us consider our lives, is there peace in them? Are we being peacemakers or are we simply causing strife with our words and actions? Jesus is a peacemaker, Jesus is what brings peace. We are supposed to be like Jesus, thus we should be peacemakers. Are we being peacemakers in our homes with our parents and sibilings? I don't have siblings, but I have friends with sibilings that I need to be at peace with as well as others I know. We also need to be at peace with our parents!!! Is there an area in your life where you are struggling with being a peacemaker? Give that area over to God and ask Him to make us peacemakers. With His help we can become Peacemakers.
Standing on the word of God,
Deborah Martin

G.I.R.L Newsletter Issue #7

Song of the Month:
Mighty to Save By: Laura Story
An awesome worship song!!
Website of the Month:
A good website that has movie & music reviews from a Christian perspective.

Bible Verses:
Psalm 101:3
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; [it] shall not cleave to me.
Psalm 119:10-11
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Philippians 4:7-8
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Devotion:
I would like to talk a little bit this month about our thoughts. What do you spend your time thinking about and putting your energy into? Are you keeping your mind fixed on Jesus or are things of this world taking over in the battlefield of your mind? It can be so easy to allow things to come into our minds that shouldn't be there, such as the movies & tv shows we watch, the music we listen to, the books we read and even the friends we have! Some of these things could be called "polluting influences". Let's put it this way. Think of a beautiful bowl of fruit. It has every kind of fruit you can think of. But, then I decide to put in a moldy strawberry. The whole bowl is ruined. It is kind of like that with "polluting influences". Just one bad thing, one bad book, one bad movie can influence our minds in a wrong way! Say for instance with music. When I hear a song, even just a couple times I can remember it because singing is such a good way to memorize stuff, that is if your listening to the right kind of music!
So, in conclusion, let us be careful about what we let enter into our minds, and KICK OUT THE POLLUTING INFLUENCES FROM OUR LIVES!!
Keep living for Jesus,
Deborah Martin

Girls Inspiring Right Living
Happy Spring From G.I.R.L!!!
Song of the Month:
I Know That My Redeemer Lives By: Nicole C. Mullen
Website of the Month:
A good website with Devotionals, Christian e-cards, etc!
Bible Memory Verse of the Month:
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
Let's try to Memorize the above verse together!!
Happy Resurrection! Jesus is Risen!
Bible Verses of the Month:
2 Corinthians 2:15-16
For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one [we are] the savor of death unto death; and to the other the savor of life unto life. And who [is] sufficient for these things?
Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Luke 14:34
Salt [is] good: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
Eph. 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.
Devotion:
This month I would like to talk about the kind of "smell" we are putting off, and no, I do not mean if you skip taking a shower! I am talking about how our actions are, and if we are showing the fruits of the spirit. In 2 Cor. 2:15-16 it talks about our "smell" being of death, or it being of life. If we act rude to our sibilings and parents, if we talk back, if we do not spend enough time with Jesus we will begin to "not smell good", and we certainly don't want that! To prevent from "smelling" we need to study the Bible and spend time with God so we do not become "dead". If we do not spend enough time with God we will become dead Christians. So, let us remember to be in the Bible spending time with God so we don't start to "smell"!! Keep your aroma sweet for Jesus!
Have a Blessed Easter, and don't forget the true meaning of why we celebrate!!
Your Sister in Christ,
Deborah Martin

Love is not a Fight. By: Warren Barfield
This song is from the movie Fireproof.
Quote of the month:
You are only what you are when no one is looking.
Website of the Month:
Voice Of the Martyrs. A website about Christian martyrs in other countries.
Bible Verses:
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Psalm 46:2
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Luke 12:7
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Hebrews 13:6
So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Psalm 118:6
The LORD [is] on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
2 Thess. 3:16
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord [be] with you all.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Devotion:
This month I would like to talk to you a little bit about FEAR. Fear can rule our lives if we let it. What are you afraid of? Perhaps you have fear of sharing your faith with others. Maybe you are afraid that they will not accept you. The devil will put fear in our hearts so we will turn our backs on God, but when we have fear that really is the time to TURN TO GOD.
I remember when I was little I was afraid of the dark, so my parents had me learn 2 Timothy 1:7. In this verse it says that God is not the one that gives us fear. If God isn't the one who gives us fear, then it must be the devil. What is it you are afraid of? Just give it over to God and He will help you. We only have to ask.
Phil. 4:19
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I welcome your feedback!
God Bless you All!
