Bible Verses:

For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. Devotion:
This month was an election in our country. It has caused a varying array of emotions in people. Some people in our country are happy and pleased with the choices they've made, while others are saddened at the decision of their fellow Americans. We must remember that God has everything under control, and that He has a plan and a purpose we do not know. Even though we have people in authority in our country who may not honor God, we have to remember that our Heavenly Father is really the one who is King, not an earthly man. As long as the earthly authorities are not asking us to do something that contradicts our faith and the Bible, we are called to honor and respect them. You are probably going, What on earth Deborah, how can I respect a leader who does not follow God or honor Him at all? Well, I'll tell you this, God will help us with the power of His Holy Spirit to respect them and to honor them. He will give us the grace and strength to do so. To close I will say this, Pray for our country's leaders, Pray for them to make right decisions, Pray that our country will repent and turn from their wicked ways. The fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman avails much! (James 5:16)
