G.I.R.L. Issue #74

Greetings!

     Last month I celebrated the 6 year anniversary of sending out G.I.R.L. Newsletter.  I am so very thankful for the opportunity God has given me to share with you each month.
     As a new year is approaching I feel that God may be wanting to do something different with this newsletter.  I am not quite sure yet what that is or exactly what it will look like, but something will be changing.
     For the time being I will be taking a break from writing the newsletter.  As I continue to write I may still post something on the blog ( http://girlnewsletter.blogspot.com ) or send out an occasional newsletter, but it will not be every month.

     Please still feel free to email me if you are in need of prayer, or need someone to talk to.

     I shall close this chapter with the following passage of Scripture.

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

G.I.R.L. Newsletter Issue #72

Song of the Month:

We Give You Thanks

Bible Verses:

  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16

The Lord is far from the wicked,
But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 15:29

 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

Devotion:
GOD ANSWERS PRAYER!  Sometimes it may feel like He is taking His time, but He hears us and is at work even when we can not see.  A situation may seem so impossible that nothing can change it, but keep pressing on, keep praying, keep seeking God about it.  He can do such wondrous things that we can not even imagine.  Just recently I've had an answer to prayer that my family and I had been waiting to happen for a long time.  I just want to encourage you not to give up hope for what you are praying for, whether that is a sick family member, someone who is unsaved, a job situation, whatever it may be.  Don't lose hope! Keep the faith!  Your answer is coming.

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

Holy Spirit - Jesus Culture

Bible Verses:

 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21

But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.  For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness—God is witness.
1 Thessalonians 2:4-5

Devotion:
    Our world puts a lot of expectations on us.  Everything from where we should go to college, how we should dress, what kind of car we should drive, to what we should eat!  Sometimes it can be difficult to remember that the only person we need to please is our Heavenly Father.  It doesn't matter what the world thinks about what we are doing, all that matters is that we are following God and doing what He wants us to - even when those around us don't understand and think it's strange.  When our goal in life is to honor God and live for Him, He will bless our endeavors.

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

Love Came Down - Kari Jobe

This month I would like to share a Psalm with you.  I pray that it blesses and encourages you!

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my
refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall
cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take
refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You
shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But
it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and
I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

Devotion:
     As summer is in full swing and life is busy I want to encourage you to not forget to spend time with God.  I know this is something you may hear quite often, but a reminder never hurts.  My goal this summer has been to read through the book of Psalms and I have really been blessed by it.  Setting aside that time to read a couple chapters each day has been so beneficial to my spiritual walk.  I would encourage you to pick a book of the Bible and make it your goal to read through it.  Make a conscious effort to set aside a time each day and dig in to the Word of God.  Your life will be changed!

Bible Verses:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27

Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:22

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3
Devotion:
Sometimes we spend a lot of time worrying.  Anxiety and worry consume our minds and if we are not careful can control our lives.  God as not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

 Most of the time the things we worry about don't even end up happening and are just a waste of our time.  I had that experience recently.  I was really worried about a situation, and experienced a lot of anxiety about it...and then it never happened.

God is calling us to trust Him, to give Him control.  When we worry we are just taking back in to our own hands what we should be committing to God.  He is our loving Father and He wants to give us His peace, but we need to surrender to Him.

Call out to Him today!  His arms are open and ready to carry you.  His love for you is unending, and He cares about every detail of your life.

Shalom to You,
Deborah Allyn

Book of the Month:

I recently read "Revolution in World Missions" by

Bible Verses:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
 John 15:4-5

This is a great website with articles and an online magazine written by Leslie Ludy for Christian ladies.  Check it out!

Bible Verses:

Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the LordAnd Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying:
‘By those who come near Me
I must be regarded as holy;
And before all the people
I must be glorified.’”
So Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.” So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.
And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, “Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the Lord has kindled. You shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you.” And they did according to the word of Moses.
Leviticus 10:1-7

Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Timothy 2:22

Devotion:
   I came across this story in Leviticus recently and it really spoke to me (check it out above!)  Just to go over shortly here what happened, Nadab & Abihu worked in the Temple and they disobeyed God by burning a type of incense that was not what God had instructed them to do.  This resulted in severe punishment from God, their death.  Even though we do not find our selves in this situation in our lives today, this story can still have a practical application.  When God gives us commands and instructions He is very serious about them.  We can not just do things our own way and disregard what our Heavenly Father has said.  We must come before God with a pure heart and strive to please Him in all we do.  It is not our works that save us, but when we are saved we should have the desire to do what God asks of us and obey his Word.  In your life today do not let the "strange fire" of compromise creep in.

Deborah Allyn

Book of the Month:

I thought I would start something new and recommend a book (or sermon to listen to online) each month that has blessed me recently!  I just finished reading "The Bravehearted Gospel" by Eric Ludy and was greatly encouraged by it to continue standing for the truth of God's Word.

Bible Verses:

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great lovewith which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
Ephesians 2:4-5

 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:9-11

The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

Because Your
lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise you.
Psalm 63:3

Devotion:
     Today's the day when many couples will express their love for each other, whether by giving each other a card, or flowers, or eating a special meal together.  Today is also the day when many a single person will cry themselves to sleep with a tub of chocolate ice cream.  No matter where you are in life, in one of these situations, or somewhere in between, GOD LOVES YOU!!!
     No matter if you are single, married, divorced, widowed, or experiencing a broken heart, the Creator of the Universe sees where you are at and loves you more than anyone else ever could.  He is longing for a relationship with you.  He wants you to get to know Him, to experience His Grace, and to be covered in His love.  He doesn't care what you've done in your past or what stupid choices you may have made, He forgives you!  The blood that Jesus Christ shed on Calvary was enough to cover every single one of your sins.  Call out to Him today and place your burdens on His shoulders.  He won't turn anyone away who calls on Him in truth.  GOD LOVES YOU AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

I Wonder - Leeland

This month I would like to share a Psalm with you!  May you be blessed as you read it.  Happy New Year!

Psalm 4

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Safety of the Faithful

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
How long, O you sons of men,
Will you turn my glory to shame?
How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood? Selah
But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly;
The Lord will hear when I call to Him.
Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
And put your trust in the Lord.
There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;

For You alone, O Lordmake me dwell in safety.

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn
