I will Boast in the Lord my God - Paul Baloche

This month is the 3 year anniversary of starting the G.I.R.L. newsletter! It is hard for me to believe that it was that long ago already. I'll share with you how it all happened. I was taking a shower one day (doesn't God speak to us in the funniest places?) and the thought popped in my head, "Why don't you start writing a newsletter to send to your friends?" At first I didn't think it was anything that I could do, and so I shrugged the idea off. Over the next few days the thought kept coming back into my mind and I could not forget it. So, I decided to take action! From then on I started writing a devotional once a month and sending it to a few girlfriends, from then on it grew. I have actually never missed an issue! It is wonderful to see God working! As the song this month says, "I will Boast in the Lord my God." He is the one who deserves the praise and I thank Him for allowing me to do this! He is almighty!!

If you have any friends, young or old, that you think would enjoy getting G.I.R.L. Newsletter feel free to give them my email and have them email me at: musicgirl4jesus@gmail.com I will be more than happy to add them to my list!

Bible Verses:

He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 13:30

The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.
Psalm 147:6

For the LORD takes pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the humble with salvation.
Psalm 149:4

When pride comes, then comes shame;

But with the humble is wisdom.
Proverbs 11:2

Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Proverbs 16:18-19

By humility and the fear of the LORD
Are riches and honor and life.
Proverbs 22:4

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:12

Devotion:

Lately the topic of humility has been on my mind. It says in James 4:10, "
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." It is not our place to exalt ourselves. If God has placed us in a job or ministry, then we are not to exalt ourselves or brag about it. We are to have humility and let God do the lifting up. It seems that sometimes we can get kind of "big headed" about the good things that we are doing. Look at me, I taught Sunday School today, or I play guitar on the worship team, or whatever the case may be. It might not be something to do with ministry either, it might be at work or school. We need to realize that we are not the ones who deserve the praise, God is! He is the one who is to be lifted up by what we do. If we try to lift ourselves up and praise ourselves, God will not be pleased and He will not honor us. Pride goes before a fall! Remember to humble yourself, and God will honor you when the timing is right.

Deborah Allyn

God is Able - Hillsong

Book Recommendation:

"Dug Down Deep: Unearthing What I Believe and Why it Matters" By Joshua Harris

I just finished reading this book and I would highly recommend it. It covers all the basic beliefs of our Christian faith and I think anyone could enjoy reading it whether they've been a christian for a week or 20 years.

Bible Verses:

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:14-15

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? James 4:1

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there isany virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Phil. 4:8

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

Devotion:

These two verses (2 Cor. 10:4-5) are some of my favorites from the Bible. "Bringing Every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ"...That is such a hard concept for us to grasp. Sometimes our thoughts can tend to get the better of us. If you really think about taking EVERY single thought captive, trapping it so to speak, before it comes out our mouth. Training ourselves to stop and think "Is this a good thing to say?" before we talk. That can be quite a hard thing to do. Our thoughts become our actions so it is all the more important to watch what we think, and if we have a thought that we know is not Godly we need to rebuke it, and get it out of there! It is important that our words and actions are encouraging to those around us and lift them up, not bring them down. We need to be careful to guard our thoughts. Our thoughts need to be pure and honoring to God. Let us try to think thoughts that Jesus would think. In our daily lives, to our work, to school, every single day, we need to have thoughts that will bring honor and praise to Jesus Christ.

Love and Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

G.I.R.L Newsletter Issue #35

Song of the Month:
Father Will You Come - Unhindered

Bible Verses:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor. 15:58

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:3-5

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. John 14:1

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.
Psalm 31:24

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9

Devotion:
Have you ever felt kind of down in your walk with God? Like you just feel defeated about the circumstances in your life? Sometimes the devil comes and tries to get us down. It can be so easy to let the devil come and discourage us, and the sad thing is, a lot of the time we let him do it. We have got to keep looking to Jesus! When I say this I'm not just telling it to you, I am saying it to myself, too. When we are not staying in the Word and in Prayer this is when we are weak and the devil can come and steal our joy. It is satan's goal to get us down in our walk with God and make us feel bad, but when this happens we have to stand up to him and say, "You have no right being here and I have the victory through Jesus Christ! You had better be gone satan!" Don't forget that we are the ones with authority, not him. Let us be victorious in our walk with God!

Blessings,
Deborah Allyn

Lincoln Brewster - More Than Amazing

I was reading this Psalm and it really spoke to me so I wanted to share it with you all this month!
May you be blessed!

Love & Prayers,

Psalm 121

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is your keeper;
The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Song Of The Month:
None But Jesus

Bible Verses:

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ... Philippians 1:27a

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:13-16

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, inconduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

Devotion:
In June I was a junior counselor at a kid's camp for a week. I was with two senior counselors in charge of 8 girls ages 8-10. There was a total of 60 kids all together at the camp. It was a wonderful experience being an influence in the lives of children. This brings me to my topic this month. Are you a good influence to those around you? The kids were always watching you and noticing what you did and said. When people are watching you do they see Jesus in the life you live? Perhaps you have younger siblings you can be a good role model for. We can also be positive influences on our friends. If you are an adult that is reading this and are thinking it may not apply to you, that is not true! Young people are watching you and how you react to those around you and to the situations in your life. It can make a big impact on us when we see you react in a Godly way, or in a fleshly manner. I think it is a good challenge to all of us whether young or old to remember that people are watching how you act. Even when you think no one is watching, God is always watching and He sees everything you do.
Let us be a positive influence to those around us and may they see the Lord in us!

Love & Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

Song of the Month:
Sometimes He Calms The Storm ~ Scott Krippayne

Bible Passage:

Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[b] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God." Matthew 14:22-33

Devotion:

When life's storms are raging, and the sea's waves are crashing, it seems like we always ask God to calm the storm. We just hate to get a little seasick, don't we? Perhaps God is really working something good in our lives through the storm! Just like when Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water to walk to Jesus. The waves were big and I'm sure he was SCARED. But you know what? He did it anyway! He stepped out of the boat and walked to Jesus. Along the way he took his eyes off the Master and started to sink. This is a picture for us today. If we take our eyes off of Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, then we are surely going to sink in our own sins. The comforting part of this story is that when Peter started to sink he called out to the Lord and asked Him to save him. The Bible says that Jesus caught him. Isn't that a wonderful thought to be caught by the Lord? The condition to that though is that we call out to Him. We need to acknowledge that we have sinned and ask God for forgiveness and to come lift us up out of the water! If we don't we will sink!

Keeping the Faith,
Deborah Allyn

Song of the Month:
Blessings - Laura Story

I heard this song recently and it greatly touched me. Really listen to the lyrics and hear what they are saying.

Devotion:

Hello all! While I was thinking about what I should do for G.I.R.L. this month this Psalm came to me and I thought it would be a good one to share. I pray you are blessed by it as I was!
I have highlighted some key thoughts that spoke to me.
~Deborah Allyn

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge
. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.
Selah

Blessings to you,
Deborah Allyn

May you and your family have a wonderful & blessed Easter!!! HE IS RISEN!!!

4/22/11

Over the last couple weeks I have been having some stomach problems and just not feeling very good. Last spring (2010) I had a lot of stomach problems also. They all went away, and then it was like they just came back. Last weekend I went to a youth retreat in Mcgregor, MN with my church. The speaker was Mark Gold. After the service I just really felt God's prompting to go up to him in the back and ask him to pray for me. So, I did! I told him a little bit about what I had been experiencing with my stomach. He prayed for me, and as he was praying I felt God's touch on my body. There was such a peace that came over me. I knew in my heart that everything was going to be all right. He had a word from the Lord for me that I just needed to RELAX and not be STRESSED, and then my stomach would be fine. This week my stomach has been just fine and I feel like a burden has been lifted off of me! The Lord is so good! If you feel there is something in your life that you need, whether that is healing of your body, peace for your mind, or whatever it may be, God is able to do it in His timing! I know my God is able!!!

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever. Psalm 30:11-12

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

What the Lord has Done in Me ~ Reuben Morgan

Bible Verses:

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Job 33:4

Devotion:
This month I would like to talk a little bit about what GREAT THINGS the Lord has done for us! I think that sometimes when we get so busy, and the storms of life are raging and the waves are crashing we forget to remember what wonderful things God has done for us. Why is it that when God does something wonderful for us we are so happy and overjoyed, and then a few months later we just forget about it and move on with our life? If God has done something in your life, whether it is something big, or even something small in our everyday life, we need to tell someone about it!! Do you feel like you don't have anything to share? What about the fact that the Lord Almighty saved your soul?!?! God gives and blesses us so much each and every day. Did you get up and out of bed this morning? He gave you the breath in your lungs, and the beating of your heart!
Let us not be forgetful of His many miracles and the every day things that He does for us!!
GET OUT AND TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT!

Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

Blessings to you,
Deborah Allyn

Song of the Month:
To The Ends Of The Earth ~ Hillsong

Devotion/Bible Verses:

Do you toot your own horn? When you do something good do you want everyone else to hear about what a great job you did? God will lift you up in HIS timing, not ours. There are a couple Bible verses that talk about this very matter.
"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. Matthew 6:1-4"
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10"
The focus of our good deeds should be for God's glory, not our own. Do you want God to say your works were done in vain because they weren't done with the right heart? It is not necessarily wrong to want to be thanked and have people be grateful for the things we do, but that can't be the motivation for the reason we do things. If we are trying to please others, it is going to be pretty hard for us to focus on God. Don't worry, God will reward in due time...if not here on earth, than in Heaven above!

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Blessings and Prayers,
Deborah Allyn M.

Song of the Month:
Till I see You ~ Hillsong

Topic of the Month:
*Talents*

Bible Passage:
Matthew 25:14-30 - Parable of the Talents
4 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done,good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Devotion:
Do you ever feel like no one sees your full potential? Like no one knows what you are really capable of? God knows!! Even when nobody thinks you can, God does. He created us and He knows all that we can do. He's given us all talents that we can use for His glory. Whether it is singing, playing an instrument, writing, or even just encouraging those around us with our words. These are all wonderful things we can do for the Lord! Perhaps you feel like you don't have any talents you can use for God. That's not true one bit! Maybe you have a friend who is feeling down, why don't you send them an encouraging verse from the Word Of God? This can be a great way to show that you care. If God has given you a gift...use it! Don't let it just sit on the shelf and go to waste. This is like the parable we just read. The master gave his servants each a talent, which is actually money. One of them hid it, while the others used theirs to get more. It reminds me of God giving us "talents" and we don't use them. The master later on says that because they were faithful with little, he will give them more to be faithful of. How much this is like God and us! God has blessed us with so much, why don't we bless Him back by using the gifts and talents He has given us?? Let's get out and do it!!

In Christ,
Deborah Allyn

Consuming Fire - Hillsong

Here is a little poem I wrote that I would like to share with ya'll!

"Do you feel like the storm is raging?
The sea is eating you up?
The waves are crashing and you just can't see the shore?
Let Jesus come and take control, He's there when you call. He'll catch you if you fall.
No need to worry at all, you'll be safe if you call on His name."

Bible Verses:
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:1-3

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

Devotion:
I'm sure you've heard people say (probably yourself included!) "God will open the doors for me". I know that I've said it. I do believe that this is true. God does open doors. Sometimes though we have to turn that doorknob! Sometimes we need to be bold and walk through the door. I recently have had the opportunity to play guitar and piano with my youth group during practice here in AZ. I know though that if I hadn't asked and took the steps to do it, nothing would have happened. God will unlock a door for us, we just have to open it! The Lord knows what is best for us, and if we ask for something out of His will, He will just say no! We sometimes tend to think that when God says no He isn't answering our prayers, but really there are 3 answers to prayer: Yes, No, and wait. Getting told no, and having to wait are sure hard things to do! Let us remember in our prayers that when we ask God for His will and to open doors for us we sometimes have to take the steps of faith for something to happen!

Love and Prayers,
Deborah Allyn

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
